The University of Western Macedonia is one of the largest Universities in Greece and retains a special place in the academic landscape of the country. It comprises 7 schools and 22 departments and offers a highly distinctive range of first, second and third cycle courses in Business, Finance, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Agriculture, Chemical Engineering, Informatics, Digital Media, Midwifery, Social Sciences and Humanities.

Our University was awarded the 'Diploma Supplement Label' by the European Commission in 2011 and one of its major goals has been to support student and staff mobility through its connections with a large number of Tertiary Education Institutions across the world.

The University of Western Macedonia runs Schools and Departments in five cities in Western Macedonia (Kozani, Florina, Kastoria, Grevena, Ptolemaida). The main campus is located in the Active Urban Planning Zone (ZEP) in Kozani, and accommodates the University Administration authorities, 3 departments of the School of Engineering and a library. The second campus in Kozani, in the area of Kila, accommodates the School of Economics, 2 of the 5 departments of the School of Engineering, a library, the Hall of Residence, a student restaurant (there is a second restaurant in the city centre) and the university gym.

The Accessibility Centre for Students of Vulnerable Social Groups of the University of Western Macedonia enhances the physical, academic and social access of students coming from vulnerable social groups (e.g., students with disabilities, low socioeconomic backgrounds, refugees, etc) while attending the University of Western Macedonia. Specific objectives of the accessibility centre are to:

• provide psychological support and counseling to university students from vulnerable social groups, students in general, the faculty and administrative staff of the university,
• inform and support the faculty and administrative staff regarding the potential differentiating and inclusive strategies employed for students with disabilities,
• enhance the accessibility of students with sensory disabilities at learning and instruction through sign language interpreters and Braille translators,
• improve the accessibility of students with sensory and physical disabilities at the physical spaces of the university,
• support the transportation of students with physical disabilities from and towards the University campuses.
• grant housing scholarships to students from vulnerable social groups.

In general, the mission of the accessibility centre is to act towards the development of an accessible and inclusive environment promoting respect and equity among students of the University of Western Macedonia.
