University’s presentation
Located in the Northeast of Brazil, the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco(UFPE) is one of the most traditional and best institutions in the country and its history goes back to the establishment of the first Law School in the country, in 1827. Within its 3 campi UFPE currently has almost 40 thousand students distributed among its 109 Undergraduate Courses and 170 Graduate Courses, which cover the most diverse areas: Arts and Communication, Health Sciences, Law, Human Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Education, Technology and Earth Sciences, Nature and Exact Sciences, Biological Sciences and Computer Science.
UFPE is the one of the top universities in the country. QS University Rankings LA 2021 has placed UFPE as the 13th best University in Brazil and the Folha de São Paulo Universities Ranking has ranked some of our Undergraduate courses among the top ones in the country.

Clarifications about the courses
Sometimes there are classes offered in English, but those are rarely offered and depend on the semester. There is no catalogue to provide, because they are not always the same.
Information about Online Courses & Distance Learning
There are 5 Distance Learning Undergraduate courses: Languages Spanish and Portuguese, Mathematics, Accounting and Geography, all in the Teaching Modality (aimed to those who desire to become teachers in the future). There is currently no virtual exchange possibility in regular courses from other subjects, since they are all offered on site.
Linguistic support
All students have access to Portuguese as a second language classes. Undergraduate students do not have to pay the academic fees for the semester.
Equivalence of university credits
There is no equivalence / conversion table. One credit corresponds to 15 hours of class, and most subjects available at UFPE have a load equivalent to 04 credits or 60 hours a semester.
