Subject Restrictions

Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing and Architecture are not open to study for incoming study abroad students.

Students must come to Leeds for the full year (Semester 1 & 2) to study these subjects: Chemical and Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.

Studio Fine Art modules are taught in Semester 1 and the full year (Semester 1 & 2). There are no Semester 2 studio Fine Art modules. Portfolio submissions are required to study studio Fine Art modules.

To study School of Design modules, students must major in Design in their degree with their home university and submit a portfolio for review. The School of Design teach the majority of their modules across the full academic year (semester 1 and 2).

To study Media and Communications modules, priority will be given to students who major in Media and Communications in their home degree.

Linguistic support

If students do not meet our direct entry language requirements, they can take a pre-sessional Academic English course directly before the start of semester 1 and semester 2 with our Language Centre.  These courses are not usually included in exchange programme tuition fee waiver arrangements.

Sport and fitness

The University has three sporting venues and, if students are staying in University accommodation, they get free basic membership for The Edge, our indoor sports facility, which has a 250-station fitness suite, a 25m swimming pool, sports courts, climbing wall, sauna and steam room and more than 70 classes per week.

 

Leeds University Union

The award-winning Leeds University Union (LUU) gives students access to over 300 activities, clubs and societies so they can try something new or continue an existing interest. They will have the opportunity find what is right for them through the Union’s ‘give-it-a-go’ sessions. There is also a student advice centre, plus shops, bars and clubs.
